Free Maine Parolee Lookup
Find out if someone you know or love was released from prison on parole in Maine, free of charge.

Execute a free Maine parole search to find details of individuals released on parole in the state.

Parole gives incarcerated individuals an early release from prison under supervision. In other cases, where the offender has committed a less serious offense, they might be given probation – also under the supervision of a probation officer – instead of jail time.

Through a parole search, citizens can learn about active parolees, their criminal history, parole hearing dates, and access contact details for the supervising officers. This resource will provide step-by-step guidance on how to conduct thorough parolee and probationer lookups in Maine — free of cost — through various institutions and searchable databases.

How To Perform a Maine Parole Search at No Cost (Check Anyone’s Status)

The Maine Department of Corrections terms parolees as adult community corrections clients.1

To search such individuals who have been released on parole, citizens can use the Department of Corrections’ Adult Resident/Adult Community Corrections Client Search Tool. Managed by the state DOC, this online tool is a 24/7 free service that provides details such as the parolee’s current status, including their address, image, date of birth, and Parole Board hearing date.

Interested individuals can search parolees through the DOC’s online search tool using their Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) ID numbers and full names (including first, last, and middle name). In addition to that, there are sections such as type of offense committed, age range, height range, eye color, hair color, race/ethnicity, location, and current custodial status which can be filled to further narrow down the search.

In case searchers have questions or are facing difficulty in using the tool, they can view the official guide which is available in PDF form.3 In case technical assistance is required, the help staff can be emailed at [email protected] or called at 207-621-2600.

Another method of conducting a parole search is by contacting the Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) directly at:4

Central Office Maine DOC
25 Tyson Dr. 3rd Floor
Augusta Maine 04333

Phone: 207-287-2711
Mail: State House Station Number 111

Researchers can obtain parolee details by visiting the central office of the department in person at the aforementioned address.

Furthermore, a formal request can also be mailed to the department at the mailing address mentioned above that contains primary details of the parolee (full name, address, or anything that can help the department identify the individual), a description of the information needed, and a statement as to why the information is being requested. Citizens can also call the department at 207-287-2711 for the records.

It is important to note here that these methods won’t give complete criminal histories of the subjects being searched and will only give primary details such as full name, current status, release date, mugshot, date of birth, address, and nature of the offense.

For complete criminal records of a person, a formal Criminal History & Background Check Request will have to be filed with the Maine Department of Corrections.

The Maine Department of Corrections (MDOC) manages the data of all inmates currently incarcerated in the state’s prisons.

The department has an official online tool called the Adult Resident/Adult Community Corrections Client Search that can be used by citizens to look up inmates in Maine. The database of the tool is updated regularly and the searches are available 24/7 free of charge.

Interested parties can use the inmates’ prison IDs or full names to look them up in the database. In addition to that, other criteria such as race, ethnicity, hair color, weight range, height range, location, nature of the offense, and age range can be used to filter searches to gain more accurate results. The search results given by the DOC tool will include the subject’s prison ID, image, full name, current custodial status, date of birth, and projected release date.

The Maine DOC can also be contacted directly by in-person visit, mail, or call to obtain details of an inmate using the following credentials:

Inmates are allowed to keep phone accounts and to place phone calls, which can be credited by their family and friends. For mail, the DOC has a general policy that is followed for all mail to reach the inmates.7

In case someone wants to visit loved ones in Maine state prisons, a visit request will have to be booked through the DOC.8 Additionally, a visitor application will have to be filled out and mailed to the correctional facility the inmate is residing in, which, once approved, will allow the person to visit the inmate.9

Inmates are also allowed to keep a general (trust) account which can be credited with funds by their loved ones outside through different methods as detailed on the Money Deposit Service Page of the Maine DOC website.10

Parole is given to individuals who have served a part of their sentences and are no longer considered as threats to the general public. It allows them to complete their remaining jail time in freedom, under the supervision of a parole officer. In some cases, offenders may be granted a probation period instead of proper jail time (note that this period is also served under the eye of a probation officer).

To look up probationers in the state of Maine, residents can use the Adult Resident/Adult Community Corrections Clients Online Search Tool managed by the state DOC.12 This online database can be searched using the probationer’s full name or prison ID and will give information such as their current location, status, image (if available), and date of birth.
